Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.  An armed criminal group (KKB) attacked gold miners in two districts in the Papua Mountains region, Brigadier General Faizal Rahmadani, the Head  of Operation for Damai Cartenz Task Force, confirmed on Thursday (10/4/2025).

"Yes, KKB carried out attacks on miners both in Yahukimo and in Kawe, Pegunungan Bintang," he said, as quoted by antaranews.com.

In Kawe, Bintang Mountains, one miner was killed. The victim's body was evacuated by motorboat to Tanah Merah in South Papua's Boven Digoel.

The Yahukimo attacks occurred near Lokasi 22 and Bingki Village, both in remote areas. Evacuation efforts for both survivors and victims are currently underway.

“We are continuing the evacuation process,” said Chief. Faizal, who also serves as Deputy Chief of Papua Regional Police.
