Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesia ranks first globally in patent and trademark applications, surpassing major industrial nations, according to data from the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).
"We are the country with the highest demand for patent and trademark registrations, surpassing large countries like the U.S., China, and Korea," said Minister of Law Supratman Andi Agtas during a press conference on the Ministry's first-quarter performance and updates on Tuesday (15/4/2025).
Indonesia ranks first in global patent applications, with 715 filings, followed by Japan (497), China (467), the U.S. (375), and South Korea (178). The country also leads in industrial design applications with 1,186 submissions, far ahead of Japan (254), China (88), the U.S. (79), and South Korea (48), as reported by antaranews.com.
Minister Supratman emphasized the growing awareness among Indonesian industries, urging continued promotion of registration, especially for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
