Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesia will submit three cultural heritage items to UNESCO for recognition as intangible cultural heritage in December 2024, according to Minister of Culture Fadli Zon.

“These efforts to preserve our culture have been strengthened in recent years, with concrete programs such as submitting cultural heritage to UNESCO,” he said during the Indonesian Cultural Heritage Appreciation (AWBI) 2024 event in Jakarta on Saturday (16/11/2024).

The three items nominated for UNESCO’s intangible cultural heritage list are Reog Ponorogo, the Kolintang musical instrument, and the Kebaya dress.

Minister Fadli emphasized that this initiative is part of Indonesia's broader efforts to protect and promote its cultural richness to the world.

"We are a country with the most diverse culture in the world," he remarked, as quoted by antaranews.com.

Minister Fadli also highlighted the importance of legal frameworks like the 2017 Cultural Advancement Law and the 2010 Cultural Heritage Law, which aim to ensure the sustainable protection and development of Indonesia's cultural legacy as well as strengthen its national identity and unity.
