Inp.polri.go.id - Denpasar. The Ministry of Immigration is partnering with the Ministry of Investment (BKPM) to tighten entry permits for foreign citizens as Minister Agus Andrianto revealed on Tuesday (20/5/2025) that some foreigners misuse investor visas with fake investments, taking local jobs such as tour guides and shop owners.
“In their investment applications, they don’t provide enough detail. Some claim to be investors, but their offices and businesses are fake,” he said during an inspection in Bali, as quoted by antaranews.com.
To improve monitoring, Indonesia has installed 90 autogates at Bali’s Ngurah Rai Airport, equipped with biometric and facial recognition systems connected to Interpol and internal watchlists.
Minister Agus Andrianto emphasized the risk of overstays in Bali due to its global tourist appeal. Joint operations—Wira Waspada in Greater Jakarta and Bali Becik on the island—have led to the arrest and deportation of nearly 270 foreigners for visa violations.
The government aims to ensure investment permits are granted only after thorough checks, protecting national interests.
