Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.  Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Abdul Mu't, announced plans to implement four-year vocational high schools, or known locally as SMK, to better prepare students for the workforce and reduce unemployment.

"One additional year will be used to equip students with job readiness skills," said Minister Mu'ti during his visit to West Nusa Tenggara on Monday (14/7/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.

The new model includes industry partnerships and collaboration with vocational training centers, allowing students to gain practical skills and certification while earning their high school diploma.

The ministry also plans to offer second-chance education for school dropouts, initially targeting 1,000 participants. Graduates are projected to leave school with relevant skills, certifications, and better employment prospects.

The government also aims to expand vocation-based community service programs, aligning school training with local job market needs.
