Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesia has called on members of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to firmly oppose any proposals suggesting the relocation of Palestinians from Gaza, asserting that such plans are unacceptable and violate Palestinian sovereignty.

Speaking at the opening of the 19th Parliamentary Union of OIC Member States (PUIC) Conference on Wednesday (14/5/2025)), House Speaker Puan Maharani declared, “Gaza belongs to the people of Palestine. Any call for relocation must be rejected.”

She emphasized the urgent need for rebuilding Gaza not just physically but also through restoring dignity, justice, and hope for its people—most of whom are civilians, including women and children suffering amid starvation and attacks on vital infrastructure.

House Speaker Puan also urged OIC parliaments to push for broader international recognition of the State of Palestine and support for a two-state solution.

“This conference must lead to concrete outcomes that reflect the shared aspirations of our peoples,” she said, as quoted by antaranews.com.

Held from 12 to 15 May 2025 in Jakarta, the PUIC conference centers on the theme “Good Governance and Strong Institutions as Pillars of Resilience.”
