Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Head of Indonesia’s National Food Agency (Bapanas), Arief Prasetyo Adi, said on Friday (16/5/2025) that global rice price fluctuations have no impact on domestic rice prices due to government safeguards.

"Whether prices rise or fall globally, Bulog will purchase dry-harvested paddy at a minimum of Rp 6,500 per kilogram," he said, referring to the state National Food Logistic Agency.

Arief noted that Indonesia is currently in peak harvest season, with national rice reserves reaching 3.7 million tons, helping to stabilize local prices.

Deputy Minister of Agriculture Sudaryono added that falling global rice prices are partly due to Indonesia halting imports, contributing to global oversupply. He emphasized that domestic prices remain stable because all rice is produced locally.
