Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. President Prabowo Subianto declared that the inauguration of the Forel and Terubuk oil fields in Natuna, Riau Islands, is a historic milestone in Indonesia’s journey toward national energy self-sufficiency.
"These two projects are important and historic milestones in our collective effort to achieve national energy self-sufficiency," he said on Friday (16/5/2025) during a live video link from Merdeka Palace to the inauguration site, as reported by antaranews.com.
The president emphasized that energy self-sufficiency is as crucial as food self-sufficiency for national strength, economic resilience, and independence.
Achieving this goal, President Prabowo noted, will save Indonesia tens of billions of dollars, prevent the outflow of hundreds of trillions of rupiah abroad, and strengthen the economy so more wealth benefits the people.
The newly inaugurated fields are expected to produce around 20,000 barrels of oil and 60 MMSCFD of gas per day, marking the first oil and gas fields inaugurated during President Prabowo’s administration.
