Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesian National Police (INP) Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has instructed his team to ramp up efforts in capturing Fredy Pratama, an international drug lord on the run since 2014.

“I’ve ordered the INP Criminal Investigation Agency and International Relations Division to collaborate with Interpol and other international agencies to track Fredy Pratama’s location,” he said during a press briefing on Thursday (5/12/2024).

Although several of Fredy’s networks have been uncovered, the INP Chief remains firm on arresting the fugitive, believed to be operating out of Thailand.

The operation, dubbed "Operation Escobar," not only targets his drug trafficking network but also pursues money laundering charges. Efforts have gained momentum following Thailand’s assurance of cooperation, with Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin pledging support to apprehend Fredy.

Indonesia recently strengthened its relationship with Thailand by aiding in the capture of Chaowalit Thungduang, Thailand’s most-wanted fugitive.

However, Chief Sigit acknowledged the complexities of international law enforcement, emphasizing the need for diplomatic precision in navigating differing legal systems.

“Fredy’s capture is only a matter of time,” he said, as quoted by antaranews.com..
