Inp.polri.go.id - Kupang. Indonesian National Police (INP) Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo reiterated his commitment to taking firm action against police officers involved in online gambling.

Speaking at a farewell event for outgoing National Police Commission (Kompolnas) members at the Police Academy Auditorium in South Jakarta on Friday (8/11/2024), he emphasized the zero-tolerance policy.

"I’ve consistently requested data from the PPATK on any officers engaged in online gambling so we can address the issue," Chief Sigit said, referring to Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center

He noted that all data on personnel involved has been handed to the INP’s Internal Affairs Division for further action.

Chief Sigit warned that officers found to be part of gambling syndicates or protecting gambling operations will face disciplinary measures.

"If they’re found to be shielding these activities, they will be prosecuted. This is part of our internal reform," he said.

As the lead agency in combating online gambling, the police are enhancing their resources to keep up with the evolving methods of online gambling, including the shift from domestic to international operations, the use of advanced payment methods, and the rising use of cryptocurrency. Sigit expressed hope that these efforts will help protect Indonesians from the dangers of online gambling.
