Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police (INP) arrested several high-profile fugitives in 2024, including 10 from abroad, INP Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo announced in a year-end briefing on Tuesday (31/12/2024).

INP has arrested Shi Zengdi, a Chinese citizen, in Abu Dhabi, UAE. Zengdi, the mastermind behind an online scam that defrauded 800 Indonesians, was handed over to Indonesian authorities on 27 June 2024, following a police cooperation agreement. Indonesian fugitives Lisni and Andi Herdiansyah were also arrested in Abu Dhabi.

Another significant arrest was Chaowalit Thongduang, a Thai citizen wanted for drug-related crimes, who was arrested in Indonesia after evading authorities for seven months.

"On top of handling fugitives, the INP has strengthened international cooperation, signing agreements with the Netherlands, Australia, Canada, and Taiwan," Chief Sigit said, as quoted by antaranews.com

INP also signed four cooperation agreements in 2024 to enhance cross-border crime prevention. These partnerships, and 177 training programs for 2,279 officers, aim to bolster global efforts to combat transnational crime.
