Speaking from Kilometer Zero Point in Yogyakarta on Tuesday night (31/12/2024), he shared updates from a video conference with Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs Budi Gunawan, Indonesian National Police (INP) Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, and regional security leaders.
“Reports show everything is under control. Preparations have been thorough, ensuring smooth celebrations,” he said, as quoted by antaranews.com.
The government anticipated potential hydrometeorological disasters during the holiday season.
The National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) conducted weather-modification operations and infrastructure checks, including drainage and river systems, while also preparing evacuation plans and disaster drills to anticipate heavy rainfall affected areas like Sumatra, Java, and South Sulawesi.
Minister Pratikno plans to visit South Sulawesi to monitor disaster preparation and noted that lessons learned from the Christmas and New Year period would improve planning for the upcoming Eid homecoming.
