Inp.polri.go.id - Batam. The Indonesian National Police (INP)  Security Maintenance Agency’s Head Community Development, Inspector General Edy Murbowo reiterated on Wednesday (4/12/2024) the INP commitment to support for the country’s food security initiatives but maintained  that its role is not to take over the responsibilities of farmers.

"We are not farmers; we are the police. Our job is to assist, provide security, and oversee PPL," he said, referring to the Agricultural Field Extension Officers (PPL)

The INP’s involvement includes four key programs: a nutritious food yard initiative, productive land use, distribution monitoring, and the recruitment of officers with agricultural expertise. These programs complement existing government efforts like the Sustainable Food Program (RPL), as reported by antaranews.com.

Chief Edy emphasized that the INP role is to support, facilitate, and ensure the security of agricultural activities. For example, in Madura, police support helps PPL deliver outreach and training to advance Indonesia's food self-sufficiency goals.
