Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Jakarta Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) has carried out six days of Weather Modification Operations (OMC), dispersing 12 tons of salt (NaCl) to mitigate heavy rainfall over the city.
"We have conducted 15 cloud-seeding sorties, totaling 31 hours and 30 minutes of flight time," said Michael Sitanggang, BPBD’s logistics and equipment sub-group head, as quoted by antaranews.com.
On Sunday (16/3/2025), three sorties dispersed 2.4 tons of hygroscopic material over Pandeglang, Serang, Banten, and the Sunda Strait. The operation follows BMKG's forecast of varying rainfall intensities across Jakarta, West Java, and Banten.
"We continue coordinating with BMKG to minimize hydrometeorological risks," Michael added.
