inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Jakarta Provincial Government give their full support for the digital program literacy to prevent online gambling that has become increasingly concerning as of late.
“We are ready to support the strategic programs from the central program, including the program related to digital literacy. We hope that this move can really boost public awareness on this sector,” says the Acting Governor of Jakarta, Teguh Setyabudi on Tuesday (11/12/2024).
Teguh reminds the people that technological advancement could not only gave positive impact for the society, but also negative impact.
Therefore, it is important for people to be aware of the negative impact of the internet, such as online gambling, particularly the housewives in preventing their families from getting entangled with online gambling.
“Regarding the issues of online gambling or any negative aspects of the internet, housewives played a huge role in protecting their families, protecting their children and even their husbands,” says Teguh.
He explained, in 2024, based on data from PPATK (Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center), there were around 1836 children aged up to 17 years old who were involved in online gambling in DKI Jakarta with a transaction value of approximately IDR 2.29 billion.
On the same occasion, Minister of Communication and Digital Meutya Hafid also conveyed the same thing. She appealed to the parents present to help supervise and eradicate online gambling as the number of school-age children involved in online gambling is quite high.
"They often use their parents' accounts and are usually able to access it through online games," said Minister Meutya.
