inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Jakarta Provincial Government is ready to extend the service hours of the libraries it manages, namely the Cikini Library and the HB Jassin Literature Document Center until 22.00 pm.
Head of the Jakarta Library and Archives Service, Syaefuloh Hidayat in a written statement in Jakarta, Tuesday (5/6/2025), said that currently the extension of opening hours has begun to be tested.
"This has been running for the past two weeks, starting at 9 am to 10 pm. Previously it was only until 4 pm," he said.
This is a direct instruction from the Governor of Jakarta, Pramono Anung, as part of an effort to increase public access to literacy and cultural spaces in Jakarta.
Syaefuloh said that this policy will be implemented gradually, starting from the two libraries, then expanding to other regional libraries in Central, East, South, West, and North Jakarta.
However, full implementation will depend on the readiness of the facilities and human resources.
"If we are extending our service hours, then definitely our personnel also have to be adjusted. We are currently preparing a shift system for our librarians, and continue to evaluate public interest as a basis for increasing opening hours," he said.
According to data from the DKI Jakarta Dispusip, visits to the Cikini Library on weekends can reach more than 3,500 people. The high enthusiasm of the public, including support on social media, is a strong impetus to realize this policy comprehensively.
