inp.polri.go.id - Padang. The West Sumatra Regional Police are still investigating the cause of the single accident of ALS bus in Padang Panjang City, Tuesday (5/6/2025) morning, which resulted in the deaths of 12 passengers.

"Based on our initial investigation result, we found that the driver could not control the speed of his vehicle," said the Director of Traffic for the West Sumatra Regional Police, Superintendent Muhammad Reza Chairul Akbar Sidiq in Padang Panjang City, Tuesday (5/6/2025).

Reza said that in uncovering the cause of the accident, the West Sumatra Regional Police will be assisted by the Traffic Accident Sub-Directorate of the Indonesian National Police (INP) Traffic Corps.

"INP Traffic Corps will assist in the investigation of this accident case," said Reza.

Based on data collected by the police, it is known that the ALS bus was carrying 35 passengers. Of that number, 12 people were declared dead and 23 others were injured in the accident.

"All victims have been evacuated and taken to a hospital in Padang Panjang City," he said.

Reza detailed that the fatalities consisted of seven men and five women, two of whom were children. Meanwhile, the injured victims consisted of 17 men and six women.

"The deceased were taken to Padang Panjang Regional Hospital, while some of the injured victims were treated at Ibnu Sina Hospital," he said.
