Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Jakarta administration  is considering resuming weather modification operations (OMC) if the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts extreme weather in the coming days.

“We plan to carry out OMC within the next two to three days if rainfall intensifies to extreme levels,” said Acting Governor Teguh Setyabudi on Wednesday (29/1/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.

Jakarta administration Secretary, Marullah Matali, has coordinated with the Financial Management Agency (BPKD), Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), and other officials to prepare for the operation.

The Jakarta administration had not deployed OMC before recent floods, as BMKG initially predicted only moderate to heavy rain, not extreme weather. However, officials now emphasize the need for preparedness, regardless of weather modification efforts.

Jakarta had earlier conducted three OMC phases in December 2024.
