Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Komaruddin Hidayat, former rector of Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University and former rector of Indonesian Islamic International University, has been appointed Chair of the Indonesian Press Council for the 2025–2028 term, replacing Ninik Rahayu. 

The official handover ceremony took place at the Press Council Office in Central Jakarta on Wednesday (14/5/2025).

“This is a great responsibility. I hope the Press Council can continue to uphold press freedom while ensuring journalistic ethics,” Komaruddin said, as quoted by antaranews.com.

The ceremony was attended by key government officials, including Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs Meutya Hafid, Deputy Minister for Women Empowerment and Child Protection Veronica Tan, Judicial Commission Chair Amzulian Rifai, and Indonesian National Police (INP) Head of Public Relations Division on Inspector General Sandi Nugroho.
