Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Chief of the National Economic Council (DEN) and retired General Luhut Pandjaitan has dismissed speculation that President Prabowo Subianto reprimanded the Indonesian Military (TNI) Commander General Agus Subiyanto over the transfer of Lieutenant General Kunto Arief Wibowo, the Commander of the Joint Defense Area I and the son of former Vice President Try Sutrisno.
“There was no such thing, I know that,” he said on Monday (5/5/2025) at the Presidential Palace, responding to media queries about the issue.
Luhut refuted claims that the TNI’s recent high-ranking reshuffle was politically motivated, especially in connection with Try Sutrisno’s stance on the suggestion to oust Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka.
“There’s nothing strange about it. Revisions can happen,” he said, as quoted by antaranews.com.
The controversy arose after the issuance of a decree on 29 April 2025, reassigning General Kunto from his position to Army Chief of Staff’s special staff. A day later, the decision was reversed, and General Kunto was reinstated to his previous post.
