inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Communication and Informatics has issued a stern warning to five digital wallets (e-wallets). The warning was given because they were strongly suspected of facilitating transactions related to online gambling.

The Minister of Communication and Information, Budi Arie Setiadi said that this step shows the government's firm stance to protect the public from various detrimental threats, especially online gambling.

"We have given a warning. The point is that we, the government, are here to provide protection to the public," he said on Monday (10/14/2024).

On this occasion, he emphasized that online gambling practices must be eradicated immediately because they only damage and impoverish the public. For this reason, his party has also coordinated with the PPATK and Bank Indonesia (BI) to block the five e-wallets.

Previously, Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK) detected attempts to facilitate online gambling transactions by five e-wallets. The online transaction service providers are Dana, OVO, GoPay, LinkAja, and Shopeepay.
