inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Coordinating Ministry for Community Empowerment emphasized the strategic role of philanthropic institutions in supporting government efforts to alleviate poverty and empower communities.
"This is where the role of philanthropy becomes crucial. I sincerely hope that Rumah Zakat and other philanthropies will incorporate the spirit of empowerment as a strategy for poverty alleviation while simultaneously realizing community independence and prosperity," said Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment Abdul Muhaimin Iskandar on Monday (1/19/2026).
He stated that the President's mandate, as stipulated in Presidential Instruction Number 8 of 2025, emphasizes that the primary goal of current development is to significantly reduce poverty, while ensuring that vulnerable communities have the opportunity to grow, become independent, and develop strong socio-economic resilience.
"Empowerment is not just a program, but a perspective, paradigm, and approach to overcoming poverty. This is the main spirit of Presidential Instruction Number 8, ensuring that poverty alleviation is not a temporary measure, but rather a long-term and intergenerational effort," explained Muhaimin Iskandar.
Muhaimin noted that philanthropic institutions are encouraged to contribute according to their respective capacities and strengths, including in disaster management and the provision of temporary housing for affected communities.
"In 2026, we must encourage everyone to be active, engaged, and impactful, not based on the amount of funds disbursed, but on the extent to which the funds are well-targeted and sustainable, so that what the government and our partners outside the government implement can be truly effective in realizing community empowerment," explained Muhaimin Iskandar.
