Inp.polri.go.id - Natuna.  In celebration of Indonesia’s 80th Independence Day, the Water and Air Police Unit of the Natuna Sub-regional Police in Riau Islands distributed national flags to local fishermen operating in border waters.

The unit’s head, First Inspector Guru Kinayan Sembiring, said on Saturday(2/8/2025)  that 80 flags were handed out—specially sized to be mounted on fishing vessels in the region.

“This activity took place on Saturday morning at Sedanau Port,” he said, as quoted by antaranews.com.

The flags are intended to be displayed on boats as a symbol of national identity and love for the homeland, especially when navigating Indonesia’s outermost territorial waters.

Chief Guru emphasized that this gesture is also a tribute to the nation's heroes who fought for independence.

Beyond distributing flags, the Police personnel used the moment to build rapport with the fishermen, share safety guidance, and stress the importance of coordination and communication during emergency situations, whether at sea or on land.
