Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police (INP)’s Water and Air Corps revealed that it has not received any reports regarding the illegal 30.16-kilometer sea fence in Tangerang’s coastal waters.
“There have been no reports to our corps so far. I haven’t checked with the Jakarta Metro Jaya Regional Police water and air police corps,” said INP Water and Air Corps Chief Inspector General Mohammad Yassin Kosasih on Monday (13/1/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com..
He explained that the issue falls under the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP), which has already taken action. However, the INP is prepared to respond immediately in the event of criminal activity or social unrest.
Earlier, the the Ministry of Marine and Fisheries sealed the sea fence for operating without a Marine Spatial Use Permit, or locally known as KKPRL. Local fishermen had reported that the fence disrupted their activities. Acting on these complaints, the ministry, under directives from President Prabowo Subianto and Marine Minister Sakti Wahyu Trenggono, took measures.
The ministry is now investigating those responsible for the unlicensed structure to ensure compliance with maritime regulations.
