inp.polri.go.id - East Nusa Tenggara. In support of the national food self-sufficiency program, the East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Regional Police held the first corn harvest that are held simultaneously throughout the country.
Head of NTT Regional Police Chief, Inspector General Daniel Tahi Monang Silitonga, who leads the activity in the province, says that the current corn harvest is the result of their joint sowing program on November 20, 2024.
“Today we harvested corn together with other regions throughout Indonesia. This is the corn that we planted on 18 hectares of land last year, and this is the first phase of the harvest, where there will be more harvests with bigger yields,” says Daniel.
Furthermore, Daniel emphasized that the harvest is expected to help with food availability for the community. If corn production exceeds local consumption needs, Daniel said that they are ready to sell it to companies at prices determined by the government.
"If the harvest exceeds consumption needs, we will help sell these yields to Bulog or companies that have collaborated with us," he added.
He also appreciated the farmers who had harvested independently on their respective lands. Daniel hopes that this activity will further encourage the community to continue to play an active role in supporting national food security.
With this simultaneous harvest, the NTT Regional Police emphasized its commitment to continue contributing to supporting government programs in the food sector, especially in corn production, in order to strengthen food security in the NTT region and Indonesia as a whole.
