Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.  Senior Brigadier Andithya Munartono of the Pagerageung Police Office lost his life while attempting to save a tourist at Pangandaran Beach in West Java at around on 3.30 pm on Friday (3/1/2025). January 3, 2025..

While swimming with family, Senior Brigadier Andithya and his colleague, Senior Brigadier Wahyu, noticed 14-year-old tourist Sevina Azahra struggling in the water. The officers rushed to help, but strong currents and large waves pulled them 40 meters from the shore.

Senior Brigadier Wahyu managed to escape using a boogie board, but despite rescue efforts from a nearby fisherman’s boat, both Senior Brigadier Andithya and Sevina were pulled further out. 

Both were taken to the hospital, but Senior Brigadier Andithya was declared dead due to drowning.

Pangandaran Sub-regional Police Chief Superintendent Mujianto praised Senior Brigadier Andithya’s bravery, calling him a true hero and an inspiration to his fellow officers.
