inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Criminal Investigation Unit of West Jakarta Sub-regional Metro Police arrested a truck expedition driver with the initials of JA for smuggling 15 tons of premium rice from Palembang.

The Vice Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit, Police Senior Inspector Dimitri Mahendra confirms the arrest.

“Today we have arrested a suspect who smuggled a premium rice up to 15 tons,” says Dimitri on Tuesday (2/25/2025).

The arrest of JA took place in the Balaraja area, Tangerang Regency, Banten. However, Dimitri is still unable to reveal the complete chronology of this case.

Currently his unit is examining JA to uncover the network and modus operandi of the crime.

"We are still investigating this case so that this incident can be clarified and we will convey more details in the near future," said Dimitri.

Previously reported, a businessman from Palembang, Bambang Irawan, became a victim of fraud and embezzlement after a truck driver ran off with his 15 tons of premium rice.

This incident was revealed when the rice was supposed to be sent to Cipondoh, Tangerang City, but was diverted and unloaded at a warehouse in Wijaya Kusuma, Grogol Petamburan, West Jakarta.
