Police to Search the Arson of 11 Burned Down Houses in Muliambut, Puncak Jaya

inp.polri.go.id - Jayapura. The Criminal Investigation Unit of the Puncak Jaya Sub-regional Police is still investigating the burning of 11 houses by unknown persons in Muliambut Village, Mulia District, on Thursday (5/29) night.

"In addition to the houses, the Muliambut Village Hall was also reportedly burned by unknown persons ," Puncak Jaya Sub-regional Police Chief, Senior Superintendent Ahmad Fauzan, quoted from Antaranews, Friday (5/30/2025).

From the reports received, Fauzan revealed that the burning was allegedly carried out by several groups and the incidents occurred close together.

The six residents whose houses were burned were Pindi Kogoya who serves as Head of the Tingginambut Health Center, Linius Wonda (Head of Dokome District), Yapet Telenggen (Head of Wuyukwi Village), and Pastor Elpis Telenggen.

Then the other two houses that were burned belonged to Yahya Wonerengga who served as Assistant I of the Puncak Jaya District Secretariat and five other houses belonged to Tiporius Wonda (Treasurer of the Puncak Jaya District Education Office).

The Puncak Jaya Police Chief added that there were no fatalities in the incident.

"The public is expected to report if they know the perpetrators of the arson so that we could immediately bring justice to them. Until now, we are still unable to determine how many are involved in this incident and how much the losses are due to the incident," said the Police Chief.
