Prabowo Welcomes the Visit of Japanese Special Envoy Fumio Kishida

inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto received a visit from the Special Envoy of the Japanese Prime Minister, who is also former Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and his delegation at his residence in Kertanegara, Jakarta, on Sunday (5/4/2025) evening.

As per the press release received on Sunday (5/4/2025), Kishida and his entourage arrived at President Prabowo's residence at around 19.00 WIB. During the meeting, Kishida delivered a letter from Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba to President Prabowo.

"One of the (letter) contents was related to him being the Prime Minister's 'special envoy' specifically for the AZEC (Asia Zero Emission Community) projects," said Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto in his statement after the meeting, quoted by Antaranews on Sunday (5/4/2025).

President Prabowo also expressed his appreciation for the close cooperation between Indonesia and Japan. The Head of State also hopes that this collaboration can continue to be strengthened amidst the challenges of global uncertainty.

"The President appreciates the cooperation between Indonesia and Japan and hopes that this can continue to be improved amidst the uncertainty due to the tariff war," he said.

Similarly, Kishida also emphasized the importance of strengthening relations between the two countries amidst the uncertain global situation. "Kishida also conveyed how this situation has become uncertain and in a situation like this, cooperation between the two countries is very important," said Airlangga.

After the meeting in the office, the agenda continued with a joint dinner. In addition to Airlangga, also attending the meeting were Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, Minister of Investment and Downstream Rosan Roeslani, and Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Brian Yuliarto.
