Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. President Prabowo Subianto has announced a 6.5% average increase in Indonesia’s national minimum wage for 2025 during a cabinet meeting on Friday, slightly surpassing the 6% rise proposed by the Minister of Manpower, Yassierli.
“This adjustment reflects our commitment to improving workers' purchasing power while supporting business competitiveness,” he said at the Presidential Office on Friday (29/11/2024).
The wage increase aims to strengthen social protections for workers, particularly those employed for less than a year, while ensuring economic stability, according to antaranews.com.
President Prabowo highlighted that sectoral minimum wages will be set by Wage Councils at the provincial, city, and district levels to address regional economic differences.
The president also assured that the decision was reached after extensive discussions with labor leaders and other stakeholders. A ministerial regulation will soon outline further details of the implementation.
