Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.   President Prabowo Subianto has called on the BRICS alliance to become a driving force for economic cooperation among Global South countries, during the second session of the BRICS Summit 2025 held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on Sunday.

In the session themed "Strengthening Multilateralism, Economic-Financial Affairs, and Artificial Intelligence", he maintained Indonesia's commitment to strengthening the multilateral system and fostering inclusive economic collaboration among developing countries.

Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto said on Monday (7/7/2025) that President Prabowo emphasized the urgency of revitalizing multilateralism amid the increasingly multipolar global landscape.

“This partnership among developing countries is vital. The utilization of the New Development Bank must be expanded,” he said, as quoted by antaranews.com.

Indonesia has expressed its commitment to actively participate in the the Bank, aiming to access sustainable development financing aligned with its green transformation agenda.

Deputy Foreign Minister Arrmanatha Nasir revealed that President Prabowo also proposed a new initiative, the South-South Economic Compact, to act as an engine to expand trade access and integrate the economies of Global South nations into global supply chains.
