Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. President Prabowo Subianto hosted Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on Tuesday (29/7/2025)), marking the 13th Indonesia–Malaysia Annual Consultation, which was the first since 2017.
Following a private meeting, the two leaders led bilateral discussions addressing trade barriers, maritime borders, and regional cooperation. A major outcome was the joint commitment to establish Community Learning Centers in Sabah and Sarawak for the children of Indonesian migrant workers.
“There was a strong call to boost trade and resolve existing trade barriers to enhance bilateral interaction,” said Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono after the meeting, as quoted by antaranews.com.
The leaders also discussed reducing fishing vessel detentions and acknowledged ongoing talks over managing the Ambalat border zone.
