inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Chairperson of the People's Representative Council of the Republic of Indonesia, Puan Maharani Nakshatra Kusyala Devi, saw the rape case by a doctor of Padjadjaran University (Unpad) Specialist Doctor Education Program (PPDS) as a crime against humanity that cannot be tolerated.
"The medical world is a sacred space for healing, not a place to harm human dignity. The perpetrator's action was a form of crime that cannot be tolerated in any form," she said, as reported by Antaranews on Thursday (4/10/2025).
In her statement, Puan considered that the case not only tarnished the good name of educational institutions and health services, but also betrayed the values of humanity, morals, and public trust that should be strictly guarded by every medical personnel.
Given the many regulations that were violated, Puan hopes that law enforcement officers can give maximum sanctions to PAP who is a suspect in the case.
Puan also asked that law enforcement be carried out fairly and transparently, without special treatment just because the suspect comes from a certain academic program.
"Public trust in health and education institutions is very dependent on how this case is handled seriously and fairly," he explained.
