Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesian National Police (INP) Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo said that daily public activities must be free from intimidation and thuggery. The police, he said, are committed to ensuring public safety and order.
"We don’t want thuggery to make people feel unsafe in their daily lives. We want the public to go about their activities without fear—day or night," Chief Sigit said at the INP Headquarters on Wednesday (28/5/2025), as quoted by antara news.com.
He added that the police will continue to take firm action against individuals or groups that disturb public order, regardless of their affiliation or symbols. Law enforcement will be applied equally to all.
As part of this effort, the police launched a nationwide operation starting 1 May 2025, aimed at eradicating thuggery. Between 1 and 25 May 2025, authorities handled 10,353 related cases, the INP Public Relations Division Head of Public Information Bureau Brigadier General Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko said.
