Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The retirement age for Indonesian workers has officially increased to 59 years starting January 2025, following Government Regulation (PP) No. 45/2015 on the Implementation of Pension Programs.

The regulation mandates a gradual increase in the retirement age by one year every three years, ultimately reaching 65. Initially set at 56 in 2015, it rose to 57 in 2019 and now 59 in 2025.

“This change gives workers more time to prepare financially for retirement and increase their pension savings through the BPJS Employment program,” the regulation said, as reported by antaranews.com on Tuesday (7/1/2025)..

The pension program is designed to provide financial security by offering income support after retirement, in cases of permanent disability, or upon the participant's death.

The extended retirement age is expected to establish a dignified post-retirement life while giving workers a greater opportunity to strengthen their financial foundations.
