Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Crowds thronged the shores of Bebas Beach in Simalungun, North Sumatra, for the final leg of the 2024 Aquabike Jetski World Championship, the Simalungun Cup, on Friday.

Despite heavy rain, spectators remained enthusiastic, creating an electric atmosphere as athletes vied for top points.

“The rain only added to the excitement of the event. The crowd’s support showcased a unique blend of race tension and community spirit. We deeply appreciate the enthusiasm of Simalungun residents as first-time hosts,” said InJourney’s Acting CEO, Maya Watono, in a statement on Saturday (16/11/2024)..

Japan’s Hajime Isahai claimed victory with 45 points, earning 20 and 25 points in two separate races. French competitor Francois Medori matched Isahai’s 45 points but settled for second after classification rules. American racer Anthony Radetic secured third place with 36 points.

The Simalungun Cup concluded the series in the endurance category, with combined results from the Karo and Dairi Cups. Francois Medori emerged as the overall endurance champion with 170 points, followed by Radetic with 159 points and Isahai with 154 points.

The event, organized by InJourney and its subsidiary ITDC, continues in Pangururan, Samosir, on 16 to 17 November, promoting Lake Toba as a world-class tourism destination.
