inp.polri.go.id - Sorong. Sorong Regency Government provided the used building of The Faculty of Mining Engineering, University of Papua, as the temporary command headquarters of the Southwest Papua Regional Police (PBD).

The handing over ceremony of the building was held at the former building of the Faculty of Mining Engineering of Papua University.

Other than providing the building, three official residences were also handed over for use by the Southwest Regional Police officials. These assets are expected to help and contribute to the smooth operation of the police force.

“I believe that five years from now, this area will be crowded with people as another office building is under construction,” says the Acting Regent of Sorong, Edison Siagian on Wednesday (1/8/2025).

Meanwhile, Head of Southwest Papua Regional Police, Brigadier General Gatot Haribowo appreciates the government who has handed over the asset for the police.

Furthermore, he also appreciates all parties that have helped the ceremony become a success. As the ceremony ended, Southwest Papua Regional Police officially began operating.

Gatot hopes that his institution officially operates, the area will be safe from security disturbances.

Furthermore, the Acting Regional Secretary of PBD, Jhon Way, appreciated the steps taken by the Sorong Regency Government in handing over its assets to be used as the temporary headquarters of the Southwest Regional Police.

Jhon Way says that his party has also prepared 50 hectares of land to be used for Southwest Regional Police HQ establishment.
