Inp.polri.go.id - Surabaya. Immigration officials in Surabaya, East Java have uncovered an attempted smuggling operation involving 17 Nepalese people heading to Europe.
According to Ramdhani, the Head of Immigration office in Surabaya, the individuals were brought to Indonesia as a transit point before being illegally transported to countries such as the Czech Republic, Lithuania, and Hungary.
“They used falsified documents claiming employment in Indonesia to avoid detection when traveling directly from Nepal to Europe,” he said on Monday (20/1/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.
The operation identified three suspects: BBBK, a Nepalese man as the main coordinator; SK, an Indian man who facilitated the scheme; and LT, an Indonesian who provided logistical support.
Authorities also seized passports and other key documents. The case has officially moved to the investigation stage.
