Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono raised his concerns that the installation of a sea fences in Tangerang, Banten, could be aimed at creating land through natural sedimentation, potentially for reclamation.

He highlighted the issue of certificates for land rights in the sea area, including the Building Use Rights, known as HGB, and the Ownership Rights, known as  SHM) certificates, suggesting that such claims were illegal.

“Underwater areas cannot have land certificates. The fences are meant to raise the land over time,” Minister Trenggono said in a press conference after meeting with President Prabowo Subianto on Monday (20/1/2025).

Minister Trenggono also said that the area within the barrier could eventually cover up to 30,000 hectares. However, he emphasized that such reclamation without proper permits is illegal and must be monitored closely. He urged a thorough legal investigation and assured that unpermitted land would be reclaimed by the state.

Minister Trenggono stressed that all activities in marine areas must be authorized by the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries.
