Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian Military (TNI) has deployed its cyber units to filter and block access to online gambling among its personnel.

While the effort is ongoing, the TNI’s Deputy Inspector General,  Major General Alvis Anwar, acknowledged that the military cannot fully eliminate access to such sites.

“We know it’s very easy to open these gambling apps, and while we filter them here at the TNI’s cyber unit, it’s impossible to block them 100% because the number of personnel is large, and gadget usage is massive,” he said during a press briefing at TNI Headquarters in Cilangkap, Jakarta, on Friday (15/11/2024).

To complement this effort, TNI also regularly issues instructions and social media campaigns to remind soldiers and civil servants about the ban on online gambling, according to antaranews.com.

The military's Cyber Task Force, formed on 13 November 2024, is tasked with addressing gambling, smuggling, drugs, and corruption within the ranks.

As of 2024, around 4,000 soldiers have been sanctioned for involvement in online gambling, including disciplinary actions and even criminal charges.
