Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.  The Indonesian National Police (INP) Traffic Corps has addressed the conduct of a traffic escort officer, known locally as patwal, from the Jakarta Metro Jaya Regional Police who acted arrogantly in a recent viral incident.

“The officer has been dealt with by Metro Jaya PoliceChief of Traffic Escort unit, as the officer is a member of Metro Jaya Police,” said Brigadier General Slamet Santoso, the Traffic Corp’s Director of Law Enforcement, on Friday (10/1/2025).

He confirmed that the incident occurred on Wednesday and was promptly addressed by the Metro Jaya Police.

“We apologize to the public for the actions of our personnel that caused discomfort,” Chief Slamet said.

The incident went viral on social media platform X, showing a patwal officer pointing his finger at a taxi driver.

The officer, escorting a vehicle with license plate RI 36, was attempting to clear traffic on Jalan Jenderal Sudirman in Jakarta. The taxi, blocked by a truck and unable to switch lanes due to traffic, inadvertently obstructed the officer.
