Inp.polri.go.id - Gresik. Jakarta Popsivo Polwan showcased their dominance by defeating Yogya Falcons in straight sets (25-14, 25-18, 25-19) during the second series of the PLN Mobile Proliga 2025 at GOR Tri Dharma Petrokimia stadium, Gresik, East Java, on Friday (10/1/2025).
The victory marked Popsivo's second consecutive win, following their 3-0 triumph over Bandung bjb Tandamata in the opening series. Meanwhile, the Falcons suffered their third straight defeat, leaving them at the bottom of the standings.
"Our defense has improved, but our attacks are still inconsistent," said Falcons coach Marcos Sugiyama, as quoted by antaranews.com.
Popsivo's Turkish star, Neriman Ozsoy, led the charge with 15 points, supported by Nasyawa Deslianti (9 points) and Bethania De La Cruz (8 points). For the Falcons, Lintang Yulia Prasasti scored 10 points, and Cuban import Ivy May Vila Wittingham added 9. Sabina Altynbekova contributed 4 points across two sets.
The Falcons struggled in the opening set, losing 14-25. They fought back in the second set but couldn’t overcome Popsivo's experienced lineup, falling 18-25.
The third set was more competitive, with the Falcons trailing by just one point at 18-19. However, critical errors in key moments allowed Popsivo to close out the match 25-19.
Popsivo coach Gerardo Daglio praised his team's improvement but noted areas for refinement. Looking ahead to their next match against Jakarta Pertamina Enduro on Sunday, he stressed the importance of playing at their best against a strong opponent.
