inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Transportation Minister Dudy Purwagandhi emphasized that his ministry will continue to provide a free homecoming travel program for the 2025 Eid amidst the budget cuts.

“We will return with the free homecoming travel program like the previous years. Although there are budget cuts, we will still continue to run this program,” says Dudy on Thursday (3/6/2025).

He states that this step is taken to suppress the surge of numbers of private cars during the peak homecoming travel and minimizing the congestions on the highway.

“This program is to suppress the number of private vehicles and congestion during Eid, and most importantly is for the sake of public safety,” says Dudy.

According to Dudy, long distance travel with private vehicles, particularly motorbikes, bears the high risk of accidents.

Thus, Dudy invites the public to make use of the program from his party or others to prevent any worse scenarios from happening.

The free homecoming program organized by the Ministry of Transportation is available for land, sea, and train, and is held at several transportation hubs.

For land routes, the Directorate General of Land Transportation provides 520 buses for 21,536 passengers and 10 trucks to transport 300 motorbikes, for the 2025 Eid homecoming and return flows. There are 31 free homecoming destination cities spread across Sumatra, West Java, Central Java, and East Java.

Then for sea routes, the Directorate General of Sea Transportation provides free ship tickets with a quota of 47,816 passengers and a total of 153 routes.

Next for trains, the Directorate General of Railways is organizing a free homecoming program for motorbikes by train. The quota prepared is for 16,960 passengers and 7,424 motorbikes.
