Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. State-owned television company TVRI President Director Iman Brotoseno refuted reports of mass layoffs at Indonesia’s public broadcaster, clarifying that the station had only suspended the use of regional contributors.
“Civil servants cannot be laid off,” he said on Monday (10/2/2025), responding to media reports.
He explained that TVRI regional offices had temporarily stopped hiring contributors, who are paid per aired report, functioning as freelancers rather than employees.
Brotoseno emphasized that no civil servants (ASN) or contracted government employees (PPPK) were affected. However, some outsourced staff, including security personnel, janitors, and drivers, were impacted.
“This is a decision made by regional TVRI offices, not a national policy,” he added, as quoted by antaranews.com
While acknowledging cost-cutting measures, he assured that TVRI remains committed to public service broadcasting, with efforts to maintain programming despite adjustments.
