Inp.polri.go.id - Bogor.  Bogor Sub-regional Police Chief Superintendent Rio Wahyu Anggoro revealed that around 110,000 vehicles have entered the Puncak area in Bogor regency, West Java, during the long Christmas holiday from 23 to 25 December 2023 "Today until 3 pm, the number of vehicles heading towards Jakarta is 20,000," he said on Monday (25/12/2023). Although the route between Bogor regency and Cianjur regency was jammed with vehicles, Chief Rio said the situation was under control because the police had imposed a series of traffic engineering measures, ranging from a one-way system for both Puncak and Jakarta to an even-odd  car-plate system for vehicles. He predicted that the return flow of the Christmas holiday in the Puncak tourist area will occur on 26 December 2023. Therefore, the Bogor Police will continue to apply the even-odd car plate system of vehicles before the New Year celebrations. The police chief asserted that the security arrangement in Puncak would remain in place until New Year's Eve. On 31 December 2023 from 6 pm  until 1 January at 1 am, the police will implement a car free night. "We urge people who want to take a holiday on New Year's Eve to enter the Puncak area early because we will apply a car-free night," he explained. Chief Rio said the Bogor Police had deployed 875 personnel to secure the Christmas and New Year celebrations, especially in the Puncak area. The deployment of hundreds of police personnel was to anticipate traffic jams at several congestion-prone points. (mg/inp/pr/nm)
