Inp.polri.go.id - Padang. The flash floods and landslides in South Pesisir, West Sumatra, have claimed the lives of 16 people, with seven individuals still missing, according to the local Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD).
Doni Yusrizal, the Head of BPBD South Pesisir, confirmed the grim toll, saying, "Today's provisional data shows an increase in fatalities from 10 to 16 people, with seven individuals still unaccounted for."
Victims were discovered in areas like Nagari Langgai, Sutera District, Koto XI Tarusan District, IV Jurai District, and Lengayang District, as reported by antaranews.com.
BPBD records indicate that approximately 46,000 residents have been displaced by the floods and landslides, with evacuation centers established across nearly all districts in South Pesisir Regency.
The disaster damaged 14 houses in Koto XI Terusan District, submerged 20,004 houses, and destroyed eight bridges.
