Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. During the ongoing Candi Safety Operation 2024, the Central Java Regional Police has fined 9,779 traffic violators using the Electronic Traffic Law Enforcement (ETLE) for the four-day traffic operation, which commenced on 4 March 2024.
Senior Superintendent Stefanus Satake Bayu Setianto, the Head of Public Relations Unit of Central Java Police, said that ETLE serves as a key tool in monitoring traffic and enforcing penalties on violators.
"A total of 1,038 violators were fined through ETLE mechanisms, including static ETLE, handheld devices, and drones," he said of the operation in the day four alone.
In addition to fETLE, manual fines were also being implemented.
Chief Bayu said that the violations mainly revolve around vehicle documentation, drivers crossing lane markings, and riding motorcycles without helmets.
"Fines are paid using BRIVA," he added, referring to the virtual account of state-owned bank BRI.
Chief Bayu emphasized that law enforcement against traffic violators is a part of the Candi Safety Operation 2024, which will continue until 17 March 2024. The operation consists of 40% preemptive measures, 40% preventive measures, and 20% punitive measures.
"The main objective of enforcement is to instill a deterrent effect so that the public understands the legal aspects of every traffic violation, thereby encouraging them to prioritize safety and abide by the rules," he said.
