inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Jakarta Regional Metropolitan Police has named 16 people as suspects in the case of the destruction and burning of public facilities during demonstrations on August 28–31, 2025. One of them is still a minor. 

Jakarta Regional Metropolitan Police Chief, Inspector General Asep Edi Suheri, emphasized that the arrests were made against the rioters , not the demonstrators who were voicing their aspirations.

"I emphasize here that those we have arrested are the perpetrators of the destruction and arson, not the demonstrators," said Asep at the Jakarta Regional Metropolitan Police Headquarters, quoted on Tuesday, September 16, 2025.

Asep stated that the suspects were arrested at four locations of the riot. Three individuals, identified as AS, MA, and MFH, were arrested at the Arborea Cafe at the Ministry of Forestry. 

Five individuals, identified as HH, ARP, SPU, IJI, and a minor (ABH), were arrested at the Ministry of Education and Culture's TransJakarta bus stop. One individual, identified as DH, was arrested at the Indonesian Parliament Building.

Then, at the Jakarta Regional Metropolitan Police bus stop, four people with the initials EJ, MTE, SW, and JP. However, the other three suspects are still being developed. In addition to arresting the perpetrators, the police confiscated 53 pieces of evidence from the perpetrators.

"Some of them are fireworks, Molotov cocktails, sticks, including evidence from looting such as water heater dispensers and cafe chairs," said the two-star police general.

Meanwhile, the Director of General Criminal Investigation, Senior Superintendent Wira Satya Triputra, added that one of the 16 suspects is a child in conflict with the law. The teenager was arrested at the TransJakarta Kemendikdasmen bus stop.

"We have carried out a diversion process, where the handling involves the Subdit Renakta, KPAI, and stakeholders in the Jakarta area," said Wira.
