inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Jakarta Regional Metropolitan Police are still hunting down the mastermind behind the riots that took place in several areas of Jakarta some time ago.

As of Monday (9/15/2025), the police are in the midst of an investigation into the riots during the demonstrations in August 2025. A number of suspects for provocating the mass are also being investigated, including the Director of the Lokataru Foundation, Delpedro Marhaen.

"Investigators from the Jakarta Regional Metropolitan Police Criminal Investigation Directorate are still conducting further investigations. We are committed to thoroughly investigate and reveal the provocateurs behind the riots or unrest a few days ago," said the Head of Public Relations of the Jakarta Regional Metropolitan Police, Brigadier General Ade Ary Syam Indradi in Jakarta, Monday (9/15/2025).

He also emphasized that the riots and destruction of public facilities that occurred during the demonstrations some time ago were initiated by incitement carried out by certain individuals.

"Investigators' findings indicate that the series of events in the riots began with incitement. This ultimately influenced several people to commit unlawful acts such as looting, damaging public facilities, setting fires to buildings, bus stops and even vehicles," Ade Ary said.

He further pointed out that the people arrested by the police were not demonstrators, but rioters who disrupted public order and security.

"So, those we arrested, those we prosecuted, were not demonstrators. We must stress this repeatedly so that the public understands that those we arrested were rioters, vandals, arsonists, and those who disrupted public order and caused criminal disturbances that harmed others," Ade Ary said.

He stated that freedom of expression in public is stipulated in Law Number 9 of 1998.

"Please express your aspirations, however keep in mind that there are procedures, rules, and prohibited activities. As law-abiding citizens, of course, we all work together to create a Kamtibmas situation, please do so," Ade Ary said.
