Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.  The Central Jakarta Metropolitan Police  have deployed 2,590 officers to secure a demonstration in front of the House of Representatives building on Gatot Subroto Street in Tanah Abang, Jakarta Senior Superintendent Susatyo Purnomo Condro, the Chief of the Jakarta Central Police, said that the officers comprised of personnel of the Jakarta Police, the Central Jakarta Police, the Indonesian Military, the Jakarta administration and other relevant agencies, antaranews.com reported. "The officers will be stationed at various points around the House. We have anticipated today's demonstration by providing security to prevent the masses from entering the House area," he said on Friday (1/3/2024). The demonstration involved the public, students,  and labor unions with agendas related to the results of the 2024 elections. Chief Susatyo emphasized that the closure or diversion of traffic around the House of Representatives building will depend on the dynamics of the situation on the ground. He called on  the security forces  to act persuasively, avoid provocation, and prioritize negotiation, service, and humanitarianism. (mg/inp/pr/nm)
